Back Up Care and Family Resources

With our Back Up Care programmes for children or adult dependants, you now have access to a nationwide network of high-quality care providers including:

  • Nursery care for children aged 3 months – 5 years
  • School holiday camps and clubs for school-age children up to 14 years of age during the school holidays
  • In-home care with a nanny for well and mildly-ill children aged 3 months – 18 years
  • In-home adult care support for dependants aged 18 years of age and upwards e.g.: parents, siblings, adult children, grandparent, in-laws

You’ll also have complimentary access to an online care giver database, preferred enrolment for full time childcare, exclusive discounts at selected nurseries and holiday camps and discounted adult care packages.

Are there any flex options?

Should you need to organise back up care, American Express will pay for a share of the cost as a core benefit. There is a small colleague co-payment required by the provider without which you won’t be able to receive care.

When can I select it in FYB Flex?

You’ll receive this benefit immediately on joining American Express.

Childcare Vouchers

The Childcare Vouchers Scheme is closed to new entrants but continues to be available only for those already enrolled.

The Government’s Tax-Free Childcare scheme has replaced the Childcare Vouchers scheme. It could save you up to £2,000 a year, per child, on childcare. Click here for more information about the Government’s scheme and eligibility criteria.

What happens if I leave the Childcare Vouchers scheme?

Existing members of the Childcare Vouchers scheme can continue to participate until children turn 15 years old (or 16 years old if disabled). If you leave the scheme, you won’t be able to re-join.

When can I select it in FYB Flex?

If you are a current member of the Childcare Vouchers scheme, you can continue to make any changes or query the payment to the childcare provider through the Smart Spending Portal.
